Before starting the partnership with Hextronics, Firnas Aero was only able to complete projects with the use of drone technology by having a team on location to manually operate the drones from the ground.

Firnas launched a successful partnership with the Red Sea Development Company to assess construction impact on the environment and the waste accumulation on the islands over the decades. The Firnas Aero team was initially required to physically travel out to the sites, manually operate a drone to scan and photograph fields, and generate high resolution maps.

In partnering with the municipality of Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, Hextronics' drone deployment system was able to consistently launch drones to inspect and detect the island's visual pollution. AI analytics categorized these images, automatically generating work orders and follow ups for pot holes, construction waste, abandoned cars, etc. Integrating the Hextronics global allowed the team to conduct autonomous scheduled missions with fully charged drones at all times. Thanks to the Global's powerful HVAC system, the drones operated continuously in the harsh temperatures of 45°C without onsite operations.

The benefits that come with this technology is eliminating the need for manual battery swapping making our services full autonomous and minimizing the need for human involvement. Alongside this, the downtime of the project becomes very minimal since it takes around 90 seconds for the robotic arm to switch the battery and the drone to fly again and continue the mission. Because the system also charges the used batteries, it allows for the project to be constantly operating. Being located in Saudi Arabia, having a fully autonomous system that can function in temperatures as high as 45˚C allows for the successful completion of projects."
